As I sat and enjoyed my French style beef tenderloin, washed down with Spanish red wines (Laderas El Seque, to be precise).I finally watched the Justin Bieber movie ‘Never say never. Boy was I impressed and now have a new found respect for him. I think the altitude makes you feel extra emotional. I highly recommend the film.

Packing - I hate it. So much pressure. Knowing you can only pack a few things, that will have to get you through your entire vacation. Last year when I traveled my luggage got lost (thanks EasyJet – you suck!). It must be one of the worst things that can happen to a stylist. But I took it as a massive learning experience. Here are the key things that I learnt, and have applied to my packing process this year…
Pack your carry on luggage, like you would if you knew that your main luggage would got lost. Simply, back your carry on bag with all your essentials items. Those items that would be the hardest to replace. Ensure you also pack changes of clothes, underwear and swimwear. This way you have something to get you by until your suitcase hopefully arrives. As a general rule of thumb, pack 4 tops, 2 bottoms, a warm jumper or cardigan, 4 pairs underwear and some swimwear.
Pack versatile, basic coloured, classic clothing items such as (for ladies) …. little black dress, white shirt, jeans, black t shirt, little summer dress, white linen shorts, black shirt etc and for guys black dress shirt, jeans, basic white t-shirts, beige chinos etc. These items can easily mixed-and-matched, to give you lots of outfit options.
Don’t overpack. You know you’ll shop overseas, so leave room in your suitcase. Ensure your suitcase is labelled clearly with your name. Use good quality leather bag tags.
Take a photo of your suitcase, so if your suitcase gets lost it makes it much easier to fill in the ‘lost bag’ paperwork. Trust me.
